being imprisoned in a decent sized room (100 feet by a 100 feet) for five years....

and you had to choose between your favorite person in the world and no window,

or books, Television, and a window, which would you choose?

this is a difficult decision...
A room will eventually get very ugly with artificial lighting, and eventually you will want anything BUT artificial *easily within a year*
but it is your favorite person so they will keep you occupied some of the time.

However on the other hand, a window lets you know what your missing, but TV brings that to you somewhat, and books are always interesting, sometimes moreso than people.

Since no musical instruments would be included this dually sucks..

however in curtain number 1, is there anything in the room besides you and your friend?
lights? toys? tables? cards? anything? bed, blankets?

and in curtain number 2, just a tv, and what books? how many books?

there's a lot of questions but by sheer impules I'd choose door number 1 simply because to go without human contact for 5 years would be mentally almost devestating.
if not devestating... so... in order to remain sane, I would choose window 1.

but in hindsite, I'd see that tv could potentially serve as human interaction on some level. *being older I would understand the need for such and be able to make accomadations for such*

actually, i thought as much as i could based on the information i was given.

it is a fatality to offer this sort of question and for the answerer to ponder anything other than what is received.
its that simple.

there was once a question that said something like:
say you were in your kitchen and a mouse ran across the floor. what would your initial reaction be?

psychologists quickly realized that the individuals questioned almost immediately asked further questions about the surroundings, the state of things, other such BS...anything BUT answering the initial question.

even if i thought about it and pondered it and blah blah blah...
i'd still go with the first choice, silly.
is there something wrong with that?

(and don't think i haven't noticed your post count...cuz believe me...i have noticed.)

My favourite book <u>is</u> the human psyche. Besides it would be fun to melt Jeri Ryan's icy demeanour (she played Drone 7 of 9 in Star Trek Voyager and had me in agony with lust! heh!) Stale air would eventually get to both of us, but it would be bearable if we can agree to keep things breathless *efg*

OK five years?

No contest: books, TV and a window.

I'd be too claustophobic in a room without windows. There's not one single person's company in my acquaintence to date that I could stand for five full years without any sort of personal breathing space.

I think I'd need a padded room because I just may go crazy but really Alex, I think you've just created the next world wide hit in reality TV.

I could spend my life reading and watching films. Actually I could spend five lifetimes doing it.

So there's my answer to your question. Psycho-analyse if you so chose!
